Lorrin Thurston was a Honolulu publisher and the leader of the Committee of Safety, the group of people who wanted to overthrow the Queen. A conversation took place between both Lorrin Thurston and Queen Lili'uokalani, in which they both expressed their ideas about the overthrow.

The Queen proposed a new constitution for the people of Hawaii, and frankly, I agree with what she proposed because with her still being the Queen of the Hawaiian Islands, if she didn't like the current constitution, and got other people to agree upon the same concensus, then she should be allowed to do so.

Politically speaking, my opinion towards the Committee of Safety's right to overthrow the monarchy and set up a provisional government is completely legal because they have the right to exercise their first amendment right. Personally speaking, I feel like it's a bit much. Like you're mad about the government. Fine. Boycott. Whatever. But don't think you can just set up a whole new government and overthrow your Queen all by yourselves...
