After King Kamehameha I died, the Christians/Missionaries took over the Hawaiian Government and tried to promote gospel and convert everybody to the Christian faith. Some changes they made are the Constitution of 1840. It was Hawaii's first ever constitution with laws written for both the Native Hawaiians and the Westerners, but with a Western style to it. Another thing is the English language. Because Christians only spoke english, and some Hawaiians didnt speak english at all, they used the english language more often, which is what the Constitution of 1840 was written in. They also created a House of Nobles, which was a group of people chosen by the Monarch, and would stand beside he/she, and the three different government branches: Executive, Judicial, and Legislative. Having Christianity as a religion, missionaries mostly talked about God and used his name quite a bit.
